The aggregate amount in other pension assets is relatively small (about 5% of total private pension assets) and includes such things as annuities and DPSPs. 2. Family units: economic families (a group of two or more persons who live in the same dwelling and are related to each other by blood, marriage, common-law or adoption) and unattached individuals (a person living either alone or with others to whom he or she is unrelated). 3. Family in which the person with the highest income before tax is aged 65 or over. 4. Legally married, common-law and same-sex couples. 5. Legally married, common-law and same-sex couples with a child or children (biological, adopted, step, or foster) under the age of 18. 6. Couples living with a child or children (biological, adopted, step, or foster) aged 18 or over and/or with other relatives, but not living with a child or children under the age of 18. Also includes lone parent families (with children of all ages) and related persons (e.g., siblings, cousins) living together. 7. Characteristics refer to an unattached individual or, for families, the major income recipient. 8. Non-university post-secondary certificate includes a certificate or diploma from a trade or vocational school, community college, CEGEP, technical institute or hospital school of nursing. 9. University certificate includes certificate above Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, Doctorate, degree in law, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and optometry.
